A specialist stresses the importance of human resources in small enterprises
Human Resources Consultant Khalid bin Muhammad Al-Shunaiber emphasized the importance of redefining human resources management in small enterprises, through several tasks that are not limited to the traditional tasks carried out by this department, such as recruitment, training, granting vacations, and so on.. calling for overcoming some of the mistakes that occur in this the field. He said in a lecture organized by the Asharqia Chamber incubator for entrepreneurship yesterday, Tuesday (11/15/2022) as part of the activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week: "The department that is limited only to providing services to workers in the establishment such as vacations and letters of introduction is not a department of human resources, it is a department for personnel affairs, any part of human resource management.

He also believes that the department that is limited only to hiring workers, finalizing their recruitment procedures, and presenting numbers to senior management is a "recruitment department" and not a "human resources department." Likewise, a department that is limited to providing training services only is a "training department" and not a "human resources department."
Accordingly, the biggest mistakes in the tasks of human resources management, according to Al-Shniber, are merging the tasks of administrative affairs with the tasks of human resources management, lack of specialization, and failure to read the work system.
Paying attention to operation aspects and ignoring human resource practices' importance. In addition to other mistakes, including recruitment according to the lowest costs, ignoring the recruitment of the most efficient, ignoring the electronic support systems, relying on one type of recruitment, and not consulting with the experienced.
According to all of this, it is mentioned that the most important human resources practices for small and medium enterprises are providing or drafting an organizational structure, developing a recruitment plan, job description, internal policies and business models, retention and exit interviews, training, performance indicators, and archiving.
Regarding the organizational structure, it comes - according to Al-Shniber - according to the needs of your establishment, and is linked to the mission and vision of the establishment, and the best division is according to departments needed by the establishment, criticizing some establishments that copy and paste the message and image of other establishments.
In this regard, he said that it is not important to employ all the vacancies in the structure, and it is possible to rely on the duplication of tasks at the beginning, just as exaggerating the names of the organizational structure has more negatives than positives.
